Orders in General:

If you wish to inquire about your order or refer to an order please give your order number, name and item ordered.

Submission of an order does not signify the order has been accepted. Notification of the acceptance will be sent to the customer E-Mail address when the order is processed.

Shipping times:

Posted shipping times are an indication of the shipping time if the product were in stock in our shop. Any change in the shipping time will be sent to the customer's E-Mail as soon as the change is known, usually with the order conformation.

Custom Kilts: ordering

All Custom Kilt orders require a 50% deposit. The deposit may be done via valid Visa, Master Card, Discover, or American Express credit card, check or money order at the time of order. The custom Kilt page says to request a customer representative call you for your credit card info. Regardless of which payment form option you chose we will call you to discuss your Kilt tartan and pleating.

Custom Kilts: Tartan Ordering

There are over 5000 tartans, Clan, District, Corporate, and military, not all are being produced by the weaving mills. Some of the Tartans are restricted use; a sign off by the holding authority is required to order the tartan. Some tartans are so restricted that you can not get yard goods to produce any product; only completed product from the mill is available.

Quite a few of the Clans have multiple variations of their tartan, modern, ancient, weathered and hunting, as well as tartans for the branches of the clans.

All of this we tell you so we can walk you through the tartan ordering process. It won't be as simple as ordering the "Clan Campbell tartan". Make use of the links on the ordering pages and on our "Links page" to select your tartan.

Once we order the tartan yardage to do your kilt, we can not refund your deposit; the mills will not take back "cut" yard goods.

Definitions as used in this web site

Custom Kilt: Any Kilt, Hostess Skirt, Kilt skirt or mini Kilt made to order through "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice".

The Event or Event date: The date at which the rental is required.

RENTALS

Rentals: Credit cards

All Kilt Outfit Rentals require a valid Visa, Master Card, Discover, or American Express credit card number and must be provided to "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice" at the time of booking. One half of the rental fee will be charged to the card at the time of booking, as a deposit. The remainder of the rental fee will be charged to the customer's credit card at the time of shipment or pick up. In the event of a cancellation of the rental, a refund will be made of the total amount of the booking fee, minus a $25.00 handling fee.

It is the customer's sole responsibility to return all rented items, either via shipping or hand delivery to "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice", the next business day following the event. Rentals kept more than 5 days after the event will be charged an additional rental fee. Rentals kept more than 10 days following the event will be charged the full retail cost of the outfit, as if it were purchased new.

Rentals: local pick up

"The Kiltmaker's Apprentice" will have the rental outfit ready to be picked up, two days before the event. The rental is expected to be returned to the "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice" shop the next business day, unless special arrangements have been made.

Rentals: shipped

"The Kiltmaker's Apprentice" will have the rental outfit shipped out via UPS, with the intent of having the outfit arrive 3 days before the event. It is the responsibility of the renter to try on the outfit and contact "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice", should there be a problem with any components due to sizing errors or missing.

The rental package will contain a return shipping package and label. It is the renter's responsibility to return the rental by dropping the package at any UPS Store or any store that handles UPS packages, on the next business day.

Rentals: Damaged or Missing

If any items are found missing or damaged upon delivery to the customer, "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice", should be contacted immediately and informed of the situation. Every effort will be made to replace the item before the event. If the item missing or damaged was due to a damaged package, both the shipping company and "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice", should be contacted for resolution.

If any items are found missing or damaged upon return, the customer will be contacted and informed of the problem. Missing pieces that can not be found a replacement fee will be charged to the customer. Damaged pieces, torn, broken, burnt or otherwise not in usable condition a replacement fee will be charged to the customer. Usable condition will be determined solely by "The Kiltmaker's Apprentice".
